Caps and Gowns
We are working on a plan regarding the distribution of caps and gowns and any honor cords students have earned, as well as yearbooks (if your student ordered one) by May 28, 2020.
The Class Day Senior honors program will be recorded and viewable on May 27, 2020. This will be available on the District YouTube channel. This is a great day for many of our students. We hope you will watch and celebrate the many accomplishments of our students.
The annual Senior Car Parade, originally scheduled for May 27, will be held on Thursday June 4th, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Hazel Park High School, with the exact route to come. We are very excited for this event, which will have specific expectations for students:
- From the time you arrive on campus, throughout the parade, you must remain in your car. Anyone exiting their vehicle will be asked to leave
- This event will be overseen by Hazel Park Police. We ask that you stay within the parade route for everyone’s safety
- No more than one (1) graduate per car, unless you reside in the same home
- No distribution of food/drink, either by restaurants or by individuals.
We surveyed our seniors several weeks ago and heard loud and clear that they wanted to be able to physically walk in a graduation ceremony. We have scheduled August 6th as Graduation for the Hazel Park Class of 2020. We are planning a traditional graduation on our football field. However, we know that this may not be possible. Therefore, there will be a backup plan that will include a site yet to be determined where students and families can drive up to get their diplomas from the School Board, Superintendent and High School Administration using appropriate social distancing. We will share this information as August gets closer. We have set this date as far out as possible in order to get the celebration we are all hoping for. Please watch for emails and our HPS website for more information in July. We are proud of our Seniors and can not wait to celebrate our Viking Graduates with you.
