Hazel Park Schools Latchkey Program
The mission of the Hazel Park School District Latchkey Program is to provide a safe, affordable, nurturing environment for all Hazel Park children who are in need of out-of-school-time care.
School-Year Latchkey Overview
School-Year Latchkey is a before and after school non-profit child care program serving children from preschool through fifth grade. A School-Year Latchkey program is located in each of Hazel Park School District’s elementary schools and Webster Early Childhood Center.
School-Year Latchkey Hours
School-Year Latchkey operates from 6:30 a.m. until the start of the school day and from the end of the school day until 6:00 p.m. each day school is in session.
Hours of operation are dependent upon enrollment. Morning sessions may be cancelled if enrollment is not sufficient to support the program. Afternoon hours end when all children are released to a parent or other individual designated by a parent. Program operation is dependent upon enrollment and on a first come, first serve basis.
Extended day care is offered on days school is in session for a half day in the morning. Full day school aged childcare is available during most school breaks, if sufficient numbers of students are enrolled. Extended day care is available at Hoover, United Oaks, and Webb Elementary.
The Webster Latchkey program is available Monday through Thursday before and after school. Fridays and school breaks are not available.
School-Year Latchkey Food
The Latchkey Program provides a healthy snack during the school year that includes a serving of whole grain and a serving of fruit. Snacks will be posted at each Latchkey site.
The Latchkey students have the option of choosing a free school lunch on the half days. If your child prefers they may bring one from home. If your child normally brings from home and comes to Latchkey without one they will be given a school lunch.
