Hazel Park Schools Return to Learn Plan
The Hazel Park School District values stakeholder voice, collaboration, and the importance of working as a system to achieve the vision, mission, and beliefs outlined in the strategic plan. The instructional and operational components of the Preparedness and Response Plan and the Continuity of Learning Plan were developed as a collaborative effort between multiple stakeholder groups (building and central office administrators, general and special education teachers, union representation, students, paraprofessionals, custodians, Board of Education members, parents, and other community members) through the Moving Forward Committee.
The district provided a variety of additional channels to gather stakeholder feedback. These included student, staff, and parent/guardian surveys, Superintendent staff and family town halls (virtual and F2F), and Board of Education meetings. Feedback gathered through these forums was analyzed and used to develop the district’s Return to Instruction plan (Phase 4 and 5 F2F) and the revision of the Continuity of Learning Plan (Phase 1 - 3 Remote Only). Stakeholder feedback was gathered on multiple occasions throughout the development of the instructional components of this plan. The district will continue to provide avenues for stakeholders to provide feedback throughout the development and implementation of these plans.
On August 12, 2020, the Hazel Park School District Preparedness and Response Plan was presented to the Board of Education. The plan was approved as written. Additional details will be outlined in the full COVID-19 Preparedness and Response plan, which will be posted shortly.
