Kindergarten Readiness Assessment

Kindergarten Readiness Assessment

At the beginning of the school year, kindergarten students will be given the Michigan Kindergarten Entry Observation, using the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment tool. This tool helps teachers understand your child’s strengths and areas for growth when they enter the early five’s program or kindergarten. experiences. Following the administration of the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment, reports will be distributed to families. These reports will be sent home in November.

Your child will be assessed in four areas: Social Foundations (this includes concepts like a child’s ability to work with peers or concentrate on a task), Language and Literacy, Mathematics, and Physical Well-Being and Motor Development. Information on your child is gathered through teacher observations of daily activities and completion of age-appropriate tasks or questions, some of which are completed on an iPad.
